Catch Up Time!

Ok - sorry it's been so long since the last post but we've been very busy around here! Let's start about three weeks back. John and Cas paid us in Halifax a visit and were treated to some of the finest Maritime weather that anyone could ask for....ok, so it may have rained a little but what's a couple hundred millimeters of rain between family??? Despite the rain and hectic schedules of both Nardine and myself I think they had a good time as Dylan was more than happy to keep Grandma and Grandpa occupied for the week!
Some of the highlights of the visit included fresh lobster, a trip to Lunenburg, helping Cory finally finish his wine cabinet (well almost finish - more to follow on that shortly!) and for Cas the purchase of a new car! Her shiney new BMW arrived last week and her son in law can't wait to get the chance to take it for a spin in Victoria (we split the speeding tickets right??).
Since Nardine and Dylan were both craving a West Coast fix they decided to hop on the plane and fly back to Victoria with Grandma and Grandpa. Of course by now everyone is already aware of the infamous 'Toronto Incident'. Although it may have given everyone a bit of a scare I think that Dylan would agree that it wasn't so bad - especially since she has been able to use it to get whatever she wants! The good news is that Nardine and Dylan saw a children's orthopedic surgeon today and as of 2:30pm the cast is off and everything is 100 percent!
Despite not being able to jump in the pool whenever they wanted, Nardine and Dylan had a fantastic time in Victoria (that fact that the sun actually shines there might have had something to do with it). Nardine was able to make it to Toni's house warming party where she demonstrated her prowness in boche ball, although a sober confirmation of said skill has yet to occur. Dylan made a new friend with the girl next door and now has a buddy to play with everytime she visits Victoria.

I wasn't slacking off while the girls were away - work kept me pretty busy but I did find the time to do a three day Wilderness and Remote First Aid course. It was a great experience and taught me a lot of practical first aid skills. Even the fact that it rained all weekend during the outdoor course didn't but a damper on things at all (and provided a good test of my rain gear). I must say however it was great to have Dylan and Nardine home when it was all over - get's a little boring without them!
Finally in keeping with the spring/summer so far we didn't slow down last week. Nardine and Dylan made it to the Discovery Center in Halifax with the other moms and kids where they all got a chance to catch up on what had happened (i.e. hi, I'm Dylan, I fell in Toronto and broke my wrist - or something to that effect!) For Canada Day long weekend we attended the festivities and fireworks in Bedford with Kirk, Laurie and Ethan and then we did something that really had Nardine scared - we went camping.
Sunday night we loaded up the 4Runner and drove about 20kms to Laurie Provincial Park where we spent the night in the tent enjoying nature. I have to say that Nardine is a natural born camper and would have given the weekend a 10/10 if Dylan would have just been able fall asleep in the tent without all of us having to go to bed as well! Despite that the camping trip scored a respectable 8/10 and we've even gone so far as to seriously look into purchasing a larger family tent for our upcoming trips this summer!!Anyways that about catches you all up to the present. We are looking forward to our upcoming trip to Quebec at the end of the month with Jason, Tracy and Dom and Amanda and Jeremy - it's going to be a blast!! Hope you're all well, will try to not be so long before the next update!!
Oh yeah - wine cabinet - 95% finished, just needs a couple of coats of polyurethane.
